College isn’t just microwave macaroni and cheese, parties, and Netflix marathons. People tell you it is a time to learn and explore who you are and meet new people. It is all of those things, but it not as easy or carefree as the Instagram posts portray. College is turning an assignment in at 11:57 when it’s due at 11:59. It’s crying your eyes out when you study an entire week for a test and still barely pass. It’s attempting to avoid the dreaded Freshman Fifteen even though all that’s good on campus is Chick-Fil-A and that pastry shop.
Needless to say, college is work, hard work . .
Despite the tears and breakdowns, I love this university and my college experience thus far. I know Auburn is where I’m supposed to be. One day, I’m going to have to leave the loveliest village, and it’s going to be the hardest day of my life.
As I sit here, with my lukewarm cup of watery cheese and rubbery noodles, I already dread that day.
If it makes you feel any better, you can have bad mac and cheese post graduation and reminisce about this time of self-discovery and panic.
